On Tuesday I took some of our un-used still good stuff to our church's free market that we have every year. And since I was there I figured I would have a look around & see what needed to come home with me.
Well ladies take a look at this box of FREE GOODIES! And being the decorator wanna be that I am, I snagged her up and brought her home. I also found some English Chippendale bowls and small plates. Lets just say it was a good day & I kid you not, I had to do a double take when I saw that it was a full box of stonewear sitting before me. I have to thank the modern man for the invention of pantie liners otherwise I would have peed my pants. Well not really, although I would have done my happy dance but I didn't want the old woman who was next to me to have a heart attack while watching me do my full body heave dance. See that tag on the bowls, someone tried to sell it at a yard sale- 5 bucks for the set & NO ONE bought them. What were they thinking?
So they took them to the free market,
I thank them because free is a very good price.
I also snagged the little platter & those cuppy white thingy's, I know I probably don't deserve them if I don't know what they are called. And here is the piece of furniture that I promised I would introduce you all to. I purchased her while up in Tri-Cities last weekend. I do love me a wing back chair & have always wanted one. I found ol' butterfly brown at Value Village for $14.99. I am going to get her reupholstered because that brown butterfly lovin' the 70's motif just isn't for me. Right now she's vacationing at my mom's (car was packed to the gills). So I'll have her coming out party when she's all pretty. I'm on the hunt for the perfect fabric right now. Any ideas on what fabric pattern I should be looking for?
I want her to look flipping fabulous & timeless! She's so curvy and pretty... So much potential in this chair.I know these next pictures have nothing to do with decor but they sure dress up Addison's cute little feet. Thank you Wal-Mart and my used to be 10 dollar bill! These would make the cutest baby shower gift! I'm just saying..Okay that's all for now, have I bored you enough with all my pictures and sad late night commentary? :)

Holy moly woman, you can find a deal where ever you go!!! Love the chair, but dude, totally agree that you've got to get it recovered.
ReplyDeleteNice score on the dishes!!! One man's trash is truly another's treasure!!
Hey,
ReplyDeleteI came from Susie's. Looks like you hit the motherload!! So jealous...
Elise
Holy cow, you did good. I love those dishes, I can't believe they were only 5 dollars, that's a steal. Ok you cracked me up with the panti liner comment. After 3 kids I totally hear your. I can't what to see that chair recoved.
ReplyDeleteNo one wanted those dishes for $5? I would have snatched those babies up. And the chair? Can't wait for it's new and improved introduction......the shoes? There aren't even words they are so cute.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! You hit the mother load there. Congrats. Love, Love, Love the toile plates. Can't wait to see what you do with them, and welcome to the "wing back" club. I'm sure it's going to look great with a new skin on. Fun, fun!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what great finds! Lucky girl! That chair is stunning. I would cover it with a houndstooth print, but I don't know what to tell you to cover it with. I'm sure you'll think of something gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI wanna go shoppin with you! Holy moly you did good!
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest houndstooth too, like Chris above me. Or a muted paisley. By that I mean nothing too bright.
Can't wait to see her all done!
Ooohhhh...I want those shoes for my Addison. :o) I have never seen those at Wal-Mart!
ReplyDeleteHow old is your Addy? Mine is 16 months!
Nice finds. I love the shoes. Too bad they don't make cute little things like that for boys huh?
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes woman! I can't believe that stuff was free!!! Score! And the chair has a beautiful shape. I'll be really curious to hear about your reupholstery experience. I have a wingback chair that I would like to recover but I'm afraid it will cost a fortune.
ReplyDeleteI came from Susie's blog and OMG....I can't believe you got all of that for FREE!! I am drooling with jealousy.
ReplyDeleteLove your wingback chair and can't wait to see it in it's new re-upolstered glory!!
♥ I can't believe you got those dishes for FREE! I'm loving the red ones! The chair is fabulous or at least it will be once it re-done... But still I can't believe you got it so CHEAP!!! Jeanne's right you find good deals EVERYWHERE you go!!! What the heck is up with that!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes they are so dang cute!
Wow! Those are some amazing finds! And to think you snagged them for...free! My hat's off to you! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think your wing-back chair has LOADS of potential, at a great price, too! I have been looking for a wing-back...oh, and I love the little shoes! It almost makes me want another baby~ well, no, I won't go THAT far, but still, they are cute shoes, nonetheless!
I just also have to say that I am so, so glad I found your blog! Have a wonderful, fabulous weekend! :)
That is so funny! On Toby and I's first trip together to the coast he insisted we shop at value village. It was his favorite store at the time. You can really find some great stuff there. Good luck with the decorating. Just a hunch,BLACK? Cute shoes for a cute little girl. I wish you would have told me about the free event, I would have loved to get rid of all my stuff! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteah, I love the free market =) but I have to say that's the best find I've ever seen there. Wow!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm warning you now! If you find that those dishes have disappeared in the middle of the night, I cannot be blamed! It would be your fault for showing me that you have Johnson Bros and Meakin dishes. Those dishes need to come play in my cabinet with my dishes.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is you are one very lucky gal!!! If I would have been at the free market there would have been an all out brawl and I would have had to have been restrained!
Yes, I know I have an unhealthy addiction to English ironstone.
I loved it all, but those precious little feet were the best!
ReplyDeleteOH MY - do I have to be the 18th person to comment on how unbelievable of a day you had, and I thought I found good deals. You definitely win the prize!! I LOVE WHITE DISHES!!
ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat (or maybe two!) when I saw what you got for free. You are a lucky son of a gun!!! I got lucky a few weeks ago when I got some Ironstone plates at Goodwill for about $2. So, mine was pretty close to free. I can't wait to see the chair transformation. And your daughter's shoes - too cute for words!
ReplyDeleteI love me some ironstone and wingbacks too. It was serindiptious that you got those dishes.....5.oo for a whole whopping box...ironstone and transferware AND milkglass urns....and still nobody bought it. You deserve it for FREE! Can't wait to see the redo on the chair and the home of the dishes. cherry
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are some amazing finds!! I love getting stuff for a deal and it looks like you did yourself well I am jealous!!! Well good Job. I hope you guys are doing well these days. Brian's blog is not private anymore, I told his wife you wanted to be invite and she said she made it not private anymore so you are welcome to go see it from my blog!
ReplyDeleteOoooO i have the same chair/ sililar chair ... with the orange velvet.. mine is orange and white stripe!
ReplyDeletelove it and leavin it that color... until maybe 2020.....
I love, love, love the dishes. I would have loved it if you brought them to me and put them in my cupboard, but I have to admit, I can't find a good deal anywhere because I see stuff and think "I don't need anything". But those are so awesome. I even like the chair. I would have turned my nose up at first not even thinking about recovering it. (I wouldn't have time) You do have a nack for decorating so give yourself more credit. I think everything you do is so cute. I can't wait to see the chair done. AND, those feet are so cute. I love baby shoes!
ReplyDeleteFree!!! Yes indeed lady bug... yes indeed.... oh my what cute little shoes to boot~
ReplyDeleteMilk glass is the stuff you're referring to up front there. I collect that. I got a great deal at a tag sale this year as well. It was $5 for a butt load of it. I was too excited. I'd have paid that for one piece at another tag sale let alone the 22 pieces that i got. Someone pricing the stuff didn't know it's value. I couldn't believe i got all of what i did for 5 buxx.
ReplyDeleteYour amazing!!! The projects you do!!! I don't know how you have time? Or talent.... I can only dream. Oh I nominated you so check my blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat bargains!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun finds! I adore wingback chairs...
ReplyDeleteI love white dishes!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog! You have great finds and ideas!
What a deal... I wish they would have some great markets here in Norway but alas....
ReplyDeleteLove the wal mart shoes too! I wish I had a Walmart... Sigh..
Super blog!
I can't believe no one would pay 5 bucks for those plates. I missed that free market. I was out of town once again.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I like the 70's butterflies, but I am looking forward to seeing what fabric you use to re-do the chair.
I saw those little shoesies too. very cute. Addison's little baby leg is cute too.
I would love to know more about the free market at your church. I would love to organize one of those at my church.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
I too love ironstone. Lucky you! I also love turquoise blue Fire King Depression Glass. And that wingback is going to look great.
ReplyDeleteI love the ironstone and Addison's shoes. I must go to Walmart to see if they have any in my 3 year old's size!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you got ironstone and those red plates and milk glass at the church swap!! That is un-freaking believeable!! I brought home a bunch of stuff from ours, but nothing like that! Ilove those red plates too.
ReplyDeleteI think ticking would look great on your chair, or linen, although maybe not practical with the kids, so you could always go with a canvas. I think it's smart to do neutral upholstery and then you can add and change out pillows to dress it up and give it color.
