This post (which I can't believe I'm showing you)
just goes to prove that I'm the cheapest woman alive.
I have had the same Christmas lights hung under my kitchen cabinets for the last 8+ years. They create great lighting under my super tall cabinets and are beyond cheap.
The wood to hide the lights cost 99 cents and the lights were 75 cents.
See told you I was cheap. :) One of these day's I'll bite the bullet and buy some real cabinet lighting but for now I'll keep my poor mans lights.
Don't the huckleberries look yummy!!!
Don't mind my blue cabinets that I know your all jealous of (j/k). I have some major kitchen makeover ideas but I have yet to find the energy/time/$$$ to make them happen.
Have a great Monday...

ReplyDeleteWhatev Rachel, anyone who's anyone reads your blog. That idea is ingenious, look at you being resourcefull. What's the point of buying expensive lighting when what you've done a) works and b) looks great. Thanx for the tip
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I'm reading this, and I happen to think this is pretty much a genius idea since I am a poor man (or at least my hubby makes me spend like I am one!) Thanks for the great idea!

ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteThanks for peeking in over at my place the other day. The 'Red Shoes' always put a smile on my face.
Love your great idea here...really. Now, that's usin' your noggins! : )
They look waaaayy better than my expensive ones. Mine are flourescent crap that hurts my eyes so I never turn them on. Yours have a nice soft glow. I say keep them if they work! Mimi
ReplyDeleteI think it is perfect, why spend a lot if you don't have to! Just because the neighbors do it doesn't mean you have to!
ReplyDelete♥ It is very well hidden because I never noticed it in the 4 years that I'd been wandering in and out of your house! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's super smart and GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteI love it, you're so creative!
WHY haven't I thought of that? Great idea!
ReplyDeleteYes, people really read this stuff b/c I'm a person and I just read it...Ha, so there girl.
does anyone read this stuff anyway... haha LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the light... wish I had a house that could use lighting.. I want an old farm house!
Enjoy the rest of summer!
I'm starting to think the Christmas lights are the way to go! My GF has the most BEAUTIFUL kitchen it makes me ten shades of green- and just the other day I asked her about her over the cabinet lighting, and wouldn't you know?: They are just the funky tube Christmas lights all coiled up there! She said she spent maybe $10. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteHey I say why even hide them. you can never go wrong with lots of light. Good job and I loved the hucks in the bowls too. They are mouthwatering when they have that glow behind them! hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteNo cheap. Resourceful!

Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it a bad idea - I love it!
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty. You're not cheap just creative with a little bit of money. More people should be like that.

ReplyDeleteI am cheap, too. As long as it works, why not?
