This is why I haven't been blogging much this week.
We took the kids out to our friends Milo & Kathy's to pick Beans on Monday. We only picked for about 20 minutes but that was enough to make 14 quart bags of yummy green beans.
Tip: it helps to have 4 extra sets of little hands to help snap beans. They thought it was fun, go figure!
Then, Lloyd's Aunt Beverly came on Wednesday with a car load & I mean car load FULL of Corn, I managed to get 18 quart bags of freezer corn. I know we are going to really love it come these upcoming winter months it's really yummy corn.
My food supply is looking up!

ReplyDeleteI think I need another freezer. Ours is full of meat. . .do you blanch the beans or just freeze? I'm waiting for my tomatoes to ripen & then I'm going to attempt spaghetti sauce. Wish me luck!

we had such a huge garden growing up with tons of corn and I remember that we would have like 6 electric knives going on the angel food pans just like that. I miss that garden. Good for you I wish I had that freezer

ReplyDeleteWow, you have been busy. I'm praying the the grapes my mom lets me have for grape just will hurry and ripen before this baby comes. I wish I had more energy this year to do all the canning I should!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! you have been busy. So yummy!! Good job for being so ambitious!!
ReplyDeleteI e-mailed you a while ago but never heard back from you did you get the e-mail?
Hope you guys are doing great!
oh by the way great thinking on how to get the corn off the cob I will have to use that next time:)
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like you know what your doing! All I have saved for the winter is one measly cup of huckleberries. How SAD is that?
ReplyDeleteI just had to say thank you again for giving me the tip on the freezer cups...who would have thought if you are looking for cups to freeze smoothies in to look in the canning section??!! duh. I bought 2 packs and they are wonderful. THanks again!!
ReplyDelete....I think I will be one of those mom's who loves the yellow bus too :)!
What a great idea for the corn!!! We have done corn before and it was such a sticky mess that I would mop for days and the floor was still sticky! I never thought of catching it in a pan like that. (plus my husband is notorious for not caring about the mess as we can since he doesn't do the clean up! But he does help a LOT!) Maybe I will try it again with that great tip!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great...clean freezer you have. Its beutiful when its all done isnt it! Oh the fall harvest time. I love it! I have been doing peaches and pears like crazy.
